You were born on September 14th at 3:07 pm. You weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz, and were 19 inches long. I was having contractions early Wednesday morning and when I got to the hospital to be induced my contractions were about 3 minutes apart, and I was dilated to a 4. We were off to a good start. I got hooked up to the pitocin around 10 am to get things going. After a while of waiting and contractions getting stronger I got my epidural and then the doctor broke my water. After that it wasn't too long before it was time to push. I pushed for a whole 7 minutes and you were born. Your dad and I loved you instantly. You nursed right away and I got to hold you for a while until they took you away to get you all cleaned up. Your umbilical cord was wrapped around your neck twice. You were breathing fine, and it wasn't too tight, so luckily things were under control. We were so grateful that you came out so healthy. From the moment you were born you have been such a calm and content baby. Gavin loves you. He loves to help wrap you in your blanket, give you kisses, and show us where your head, eyes, nose etc...are. You are such a beautiful little baby girl. You have the biggest brightest eyes, and they are still that baby slate gray color. So, we shall see what your true eye color will be one day. You were a great sleeper from the start and sleep so well at night (only waking up once to eat). Your dad and I didn't finalize a name for you until the day we left the hospital. Your dad picked out your middle name which is his great grandmother's name. She was part of the Willie Handcart company. I wanted to name you Ruby for so long, but your dad needed a little convincing ;). He loves it now though and it fits you perfectly. We are so thrilled to have you in our family and our lives wouldn't be complete without you here. Love you little Ruby girl.
Gavin got pretty tired at the hospital. ;)
